Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Clark County commissioners approved plans on Wednesday, for a three-story shopping mall at Treasure Island.
The resort is the latest Las Vegas Strip property to invest heavily in a non-gaming project.
The 46,000 square foot mall will include restaurants and a pharmacy on Treasure Island's property at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road.
It will compete with upscale retail action already claimed on three corners by the Fashion Show mall, Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian and shops at the Wynn.
Tourists gathered to watch the Sirens show in front of TI on Wednesday, and welcomed news of the new mall.
There's no word yet on when construction will begin.

Treasure Island looking to remodel Las Vegas Strip entrance
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Treasure Island is looking to create a new Las Vegas Strip-accessible shopping center, which would include a pharmacy.
According to the Las Vegas Eater, the plans are scheduled for an August presentation at the planning commission.
The plans include retail and restaurant options, as well as a source for "accessory and incidental uses."
The proposal also asks for permission to "allow exterior colors to display vivid hues."
