When it comes to spring-breaking it, Hawaii residents love Las Vegas, according to a poll released by AAA Hawaii.
Spring break begins next week for most Hawaii schools, and the poll found that 21 percent of spring break travelers are heading for the gambling capital of the United States, which is also known as Hawaii's ninth island.
Next in line is the Big Island. The poll said that 18 percent are traveling there , and 17 percent of travelers are going to Los Angeles. Others, 16 percent, are heading to San Francisco, and 14 percent plan to stay in Hawaii and go to Oahu.
Overall, 54 percent of the people polled said that they are going to take at least one fun trip, a 19-percent increase over last year. Forty percent said they plan to take two trips.
AAA defined a spring break trip as one that is at least 50 miles away from home and that is taken in March, April or May.
