Caesars ‘Linq’ project to give old properties new look

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The Imperial Palace and the O'Sheas casino will both get a new look under Caesars Entertainment's plan for its $550 million Linq entertainment district.
The casino company on Wednesday released details of its new development on the east side of the Las Vegas Strip.
With the recession having stalled hotel and casino construction, Caesars is taking a gamble on a massive outdoor complex that will combine shopping and dining with a 550-foot observation wheel.
"I think that's the real difference in this project, we're not building another big box filled with slot machines or hotel rooms," said Caesars spokeswoman Jan Jones, "Because right now Las Vegas Las Vegas doesn't need that."
The project will require the closure of the current O'Sheas casino, which will be incorporated into the complex.
Caesars will also rebrand Imperial Palace and renovate the entrance of the Flamingo.
Linq is slated to open in June 2013.
